The Origin of Ultimaxx Health
My interest in helping people dates back to when I was in college. During a time when I embarked upon the journey of young adulthood, playing Division I football at the University of Maryland, and enjoying the things a young man my age would typically enjoy. Well, that was abruptly cut short when my mother became very ill, and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. This diagnosis and its associated complications, quickly began to wreak havoc on my mother. I watched helplessly as a young, strong, vibrant woman suffered from chronic pain, deformities, a weakened immune system, and was overloaded with prescription after prescription from her doctors, with no improvement, ultimately leading to disability and depression.
I was at a crossroads: stay in Maryland and focus on the things that a collegiate teenager would generally focus on, or do something to help my mother. Well, as a good son would do, I chose the latter. I gave up playing football and transferred to Temple University which would allow me to be close to her. I then focused entirely on pursuing a career in Orthopaedic Surgery, in hopes that I would one day be able to fix her deformities, or maybe even discover a non-toxic cure for this terrible condition that essentially crippled my mother. So I buckled down, graduated a semester early, and went onto Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, which still allowed me to be close to home.
In medical school, I developed a deep appreciation for the systems of the body, pathological processes, diseases, as well as how what we consumed, or were exposed to, affected us. This was also my first experience with the pharmaceutical industry. I had a chance to see firsthand how intimately the pharmaceutical industry was involved with the medical community, and the extent of its influence. During this time, I also began to appreciate just how unhealthy our society was.
I was passionate about healing the sick, and determined to be a problem solver. So, I continued the journey I committed to in college, to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon. I figured Orthopaedic Surgeons not only deal with all aspects of the musculoskeletal system, they generally provide services that will allow people to lead healthier and more functional lives; so surely, I would be able to help my mother and others like her. To my surprise, during my residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and thereafter as a teaching attending; it became evident to me that although we had one of the greatest healthcare systems in the world, it was not without flaws.
I became very frustrated with how medications, in theory, were supposed to be good for patients; were in fact causing them significant harm. Specifically, prescription narcotics, steroids and other OTC pain relievers. I saw up close how the long term usage of these medications damaged my mothers’ kidneys, leading to hypertension, her eyes; leading to deterioration of her vision and her joints; ultimately necessitating her having a hip replacement, with a knee replacement necessary sometime in the future.
As you can imagine, watching the health of your mother, someone you love deeply deteriorate, is quite painful. Instead of having a pity party I became even more determined to find a solution. I came to terms with the fact that I couldn’t reverse what happened to my mother, but I could do something about helping others, so they wouldn’t have to go through what she went through. So I took this passion for healing people and problem solving, and focused on building a company that would make it its mission to develop “Natural”, alternative solutions to the prescription narcotic ‘painkillers”, steroids, and over the counter (OTC) pain relievers that are laden with significant adverse side effects e.g. cardiovascular, liver, kidney, addiction, overdose and death.
I am pleased to say that I successfully accomplished one of these goals when I founded Ultimaxx Health, Inc., dba Ultimaxx Health in 2009 and then created LEVARE® (la-var-ay) Pain Relief for which I received a prestigious patent in 2012. Ultimaxx Health is an early stage “Natural” pharmaceutical company, developing innovative consumer healthcare products that will help improve their general health and well-being. Ultimaxx Health is currently focused on developing patented, clinically tested, “Natural” non-narcotic, OTC pain relief alternatives, metabolic mood enhancement supplements like “Advyndra,” pronounced (ad-vin-druh) and human performance optimization products. Through Ultimaxx Health and with products like LEVARE, I will continue to focus on positively impacting the lives of many, and on “Changing The World Naturally” One Life at a Time.
